Hair Loss Treatment Options
Medical treatments for hair loss are a non-surgical hair restoration option which can be used on their own or in conjunction with hair transplant surgery.
Finasteride and Minoxidil known as Regaine are two medications which have proven effective in significantly slowing down hair loss in over 80% of cases and are approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
HRBR can advise you about these individual therapies as well as their simultaneous and complementary usage.
Roughly one in five of HRBR’s patients is deemed a suitable candidate for hair transplant surgery and can avail of the widely accepted gold standard of Ultra Refined Follicular Unit Transplantation (URFUT).
For those patients this is the best treatment for hair loss as it is the only long-term solution. This pioneering technique transplants hair from the back of the head, an area immune to hair loss,
to those parts of the head which need it most. The procedure is carried out by one of our qualified hair restoration surgeons, the only professionals properly equipped to perform hair restoration surgery.
Combination therapy, as the name suggests, combines the medical treatment route with hair transplant surgery. This is advised in cases where a candidate may be considered too young,
typically under 25 years of age, for the surgical procedure because the pattern of balding is not yet established. Usually, the medical treatment is recommended for this age group in the first instance,
while attending the clinic over a three to five year period to determine if surgery is suitable at some subsequent juncture.
best treatment for hair loss
In all cases, the first step in deciding the best treatment for hair loss is to engage in the consultation process. Rather than meeting with salespeople employed at a commercial hair restoration clinic,
HRBR’s view is that hair loss should only be dealt with by qualified medical professionals given that it is after all a medical condition.
Your hour-long private consultation shall therefore be with one of our qualified hair restoration doctors where there will be a comprehensive assessment of your particular case addressing issues such as general medical history, cause of hair loss, reasons for wanting to undertake treatment, and expectations about the end result.
Along with a thorough physical examination of the hair and scalp, our state-of-the-art consulting rooms feature an advanced system of macrophotography,
enabling us to take extensive and exceptionally detailed images of your head and hair which can be simultaneously viewed on screen by both the doctor and yourself.
These photographs assist
in determining factors such as donor density, scalp laxity, balding pattern, and individual hair characteristics such as colour and wave.
Overall, this professional clinical assessment produces a clear and real picture of the extent of hair loss and along with a consultation summary report, prepared by the doctor, helps you reflect and decide on which treatment option to pursue in a well-informed manner.
Our aim at HRBR is to provide reassurance and counselling on the best option for you personally. Perhaps it is best summed up by one patient who said,
“I was struck by the relaxed yet serious approach, your honesty and above all your integrity.” A tailored treatment plan is then produced according to the three possible courses of action.

WHAT IS FUSS HAIR TRANSPLANT?
Human hairs grow in tiny groupings called “follicular units”. Each follicular unit of a healthy scalp contains 1-3 hairs. At our clinic, we harvest these follicular units from a narrow strip that’s taken from the back and sides of your scalp.
After extracting the strip, the incision is closed and results in a virtually undetectable scar. Hair transplant surgeons refer to this narrow strip as your “donor area”.
The narrow strip is taken by the surgical team and viewed under magnification using high-powered microscopes, and each individual follicular unit is harvested. A major advantage of using microscopes for dissection is that it allows us to keep the follicular units healthy and intact.
Tiny needle sized sites are then artistically made in the balding areas of your scalp, and the harvested follicular units are implanted. These sites will heal in just a few days, leaving no visible marks.
The newly implanted hair will live and grow throughout the person’s lifetime.
